WWE: Preview of the Elimination Chamber PPV

Colton KokrdaMay 31, 2018

In just 12 short days, the WWE will be having its next pay-per-view, the Elimination Chamber.

Named after the main matches set to take place, this PPV offers a unique experience that will not be seen at any other PPV throughout the year.

There are already a few matches that have been announced, with a few still left to be announced. I'm going to preview the matches that have been announced as well as make my best guess as to some other matches that may be added to the card.

Match 1: Time to Get Funky

1 of 5

Look for the Elimination Chamber to start off in grand style by taking a trip to Funky Town.

The WWE has been giving Brodus Clay some pretty good exposure since his debut back in early January and I expect that to do nothing but continue.

Unfortunately, Clay will likely face just another jobber this PPV and nobody that could significantly challenge him.

This match will likely last less than five minutes, with Clay being the victor after nailing his What The Funk? on his opponent.

Match 2: Divas Championship Match

2 of 5

The first match for the PPV is likely going to be for the Divas Championship.

In recent weeks, we have seen a rivalry start to brew between Beth Phoenix and Tamina. These two have run into each other in multiple matches (usually tag team) and Beth always seems to get the better end of the deal.

Pairing up Beth's sheer strength against Tamina's bloodline and high-flying ability is certainly a recipe for an exciting divas match.

However, barring an injury to her, look for Beth Phoenix to retain the title.

And now on to the announced matches thus far.

Match 3: Ambulance Match

3 of 5

It seems that WWE is finally starting to wrap up this storyline between John Cena and Kane.

For the past month-and-a-half, Kane has been targeting Cena to try to get him to "embrace the hate." This has seen Kane attack Cena on multiple occasions and target Cena's good friend Zack Ryder and his girlfriend Eve.

Kane was also responsible for breaking Ryder's back. Kane threatened Eve on Monday Night Raw last night as well, saying if Cena does not embrace the hate soon, he is scared for her.

Last week on the January 30th edition of Monday Right Raw, Cena violently attacked Kane, using the steel-steps multiple times to send Kane into retreat.

All of this has culminated in a match where there will only be one person walking out of the match, with the other riding in the back of an ambulance.

The last time we saw an ambulance match?

Survivor Series 2003.

The contestants?

Shane McMahon and Kane.

While Cena has never experienced anything like this, he has revenge on his mind. Look for Cena to come out on top, and when he closes those ambulance doors, that will signify the end of his feud with Kane so he can launch into his feud with The Rock for Wrestlemania.

Match 4: Raw Elimination Chamber

4 of 5

First off, let me state that these next two matches could easily be switched in terms of who gets the final match on the card. However, this Elimination Chamber match appears to have the upper hand in terms of talent in the ring.

This match will feature Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz, Chris Jericho and WWE Champion CM Punk.

For those of you that do not know what the Elimination Chamber match is, I will explain it for you.

A chamber will surround the ring with a platform raised to ring level to extend the surface a few feet outside the ring. Four enclosures inside the chamber will be the cozy home of four superstars as they await their door to open and to enter the match. The match starts off with two men in the middle of the ring and, after a certain amount of time, another participant is randomly selected to enter the match. The match continues until there is one man left remaining in the match, with the others being defeated by pinfall or submission.

Now, on to this match.

Every individual in this match has the ability to be a success while holding the WWE title. However, there are three individuals that appear to have the upper hand and the highest probability in winning the match.

Those men are Dolph Ziggler, Chris Jericho and CM Punk.

Ziggler has been getting a main-event push recently from the WWE, and he has not disappointed with his performance.

However, the powers to be appear to be lining up for a Jericho vs. Punk match at Wrestlemania, just as the many rumors surrounding Jericho's return stated.

Jericho is slated to enter the chamber last after his win on Monday Night. For that reason, Jericho appears to be a favorite to come out on top.

However, I believe that Punk will find some way to retain the title. This will infuriate Jericho, and he will challenge Punk to a match at Wrestlemania.

Match 5: Smackdown Elimination Chamber

5 of 5

The final match of the night will likely be this chamber match.

While this match is lacking the star power of the Raw chamber match, this one certainly has the ability to produce quite a spectacle.

World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton, Wade Barrett, The Big Show, Cody Rhodes and . . . The Great Khali (really?) will be featured in this match.

Khali replaces a suspended Mark Henry in the match and this match immediately suffers because of it. Nobody wants to see Khali lumber around the ring swinging his arm at people's heads. Look for him to to be eliminated fairly quickly after he enters the match.

The rest of the group has the ability to challenge for the title. There are also two great feuds that have been ongoing that will be involved in this match: one being Daniel Bryan and the Big Show, with the other feud being Randy Orton and Wade Barrett.

My prediction for this match: Daniel Bryan retains his title. This will set up what will likely be an amazing Wrestlemania showdown between Sheamus, the 2012 Royal Rumble Winner, and Bryan for the World Heavyweight Championship.
