Georgia Football: Former Star Knowshon Moreno Arrested for DUI by Denver Police

Blake SilversJun 7, 2018

Denver television station KDVR-FOX31 is reporting that former UGA star and current Denver Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno has been arrested for driving drunk.

According to Denver Police, Moreno was pulled over on Feb. 1 in a Bentley convertible on I-25 doing 70 miles per hour through a designated construction area.  With an initial speeding stop, going 25 miles per hour over the temporary speed limit, the tailback was eventually arrested after failing a field sobriety test.

The arresting officer stated that he smelled alcohol on the suspect's breath, which initiated the DUI investigation that led to the arrest.

The officers stated that Moreno was “very respectful and polite.”

In a public statement on Monday (Feb. 6) the Denver Police Department said the officers "take the incident involving Knowshon Moreno very seriously and are thoroughly reviewing this matter. Our organization will continue to gather information and closely monitor this issue while the legal process runs its course."

The Bentley apparently had a personalized license plate that read "SAUCED," which is an unfortunate, yet ironic detail of this story.

Moreno was the 12th overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft by the Broncos and had been a budding star at the University of Georgia.

No statement from Moreno, his agent or the Denver Broncos organization has been released to this point, but will likely be forthcoming.
