New York Giants tight end Travis Beckum reportedly suffered a torn ACL in the second quarter of Sunday's Super Bowl against the New England Patriots.

Tweeted Aditi Kinkhabwala of the Wall Street Journal:

Beckum hasn't been used much this season, with just five catches for 93 yards and a touchdown in the regular season and seven catches for 45 yards in the playoffs, but this injury would be important if starting tight end Jake Ballard goes down with an injury on Sunday.

Remember, Ballard missed the last two games of the regular season with a knee injury.

Who's the Backup?

The backup to Beckum is Bear Pascoe, who actually had more catches (12) and receiving yards (136) than Beckum in the regular season. Pascoe also scored a six-yard touchdown against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.

Devastation Scale

I'm going to go with a 3 for now, given Ballard is the guy they really can't lose. But if Ballard goes down, this jumps up to about an 8 on the Devastation Scale.

Timeline for Return

Beckum will be held out for the rest of the game.

What They're Saying

Tweeted John Clayton of ESPN:

Beckum, a third-year pro, was used as a pass-catching tight end this season while Pascoe has been used primarily as a blocking tight end.
