Super Bowl Predictions 2012: Star Players That Will Make the Biggest Impact

Andrew KulhaFeb 5, 2012

The biggest moments in sports require the biggest stars to step up, and there is no bigger moment than the Super Bowl.

While role players and complimentary players are undoubtedly important, it's the stars that really leave their marks on the game.

How do you think Tom Brady became Tom Brady, or Eli Manning became Eli Manning?

They made the plays when it mattered, and in the end they are the ones with the rings on their fingers—Brady with three, mind you.

Which stars are going to make the biggest impact in this year's Super Bowl?

Check it out:

Wes Welker, WR, Patriots

With Rob Gronkowski perhaps being slowed down with the ankle injury that's been hindering him since the AFC Championship Game, Welker is going to be even more important for the Patriots.

Not only does he have the ability to completely destroy the Giants in the slot, but he should be able to pose as a deep threat as well.

Welker's a veteran and has that intangible "it factor" that will be invaluable in this game for the Patriots.

Hakeem Nicks, WR, Giants

Simply put, Nicks has the ability to be unstoppable, especially going against a Patriots secondary that is less than stellar.

He's got a big frame and massive hands and can catch anything that comes his way. He should be able to spread the defense and make some room for the Giants running game.

Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, Giants

If the Giants want to have even a remote chance of slowing down the Patriots offense, it is going to start up front with the pass rush.

Pierre-Paul talked a lot about getting into Brady's head before the game, and now is his chance to back it up.

Tom Brady, QB, Patriots

This is Brady's game, there is absolutely no doubt about that. If he wants to make his mark as the best ever he needs to win this game.

The Giants rocked his world the last time around, but I wouldn't count him out twice in a row.

With his offensive weapons and focus coming into this game, I expect a huge game.
