Chevy Super Bowl Commercial: Chevy Scores Big with Latest Ads
Welcome to a new era of Super Bowl advertising, where we see the commercials before they officially air.
And from what I've seen so far, Chevy will score multiple touchdowns on Super Sunday.
Chevy has come out with several of its Super Bowl ads already. All of them have what they're supposed to: originality, relevance, humor and, above all, the ability to connect with consumers.
Here's a look at the ones that have been released before Super Bowl XLVI.
"Happy Grad"
This commercial is brilliant.
First of all, it's hilarious (imagine thinking you're getting a new car only to discover you're getting a new mini fridge). Second of all, it shows a yearning for the product. Third, it connects with the viewer (who hasn't wanted a new car?). Last but not least, it almost makes you forget that this ad is designed specifically to make the company money.
"Stunt Anthem"
First thing that jumps out at you: this ad is visually stunning. You're instantly locked in (especially those daredevils out there).
Second, what's the best way to sell a car? Why, show it doing cool stuff, of course. I've never skydived, done a kickflip with a car or bungee jumped (call me old fashioned), but this commercial awakens the adventurer in me.
First thing I thought: "That's freakin' awesome."
Second thing I thought: I want a Chevy Sonic.
Chevy Silverado "2012"
This is my second-favorite Chevy commercial I've seen.
It's timely (2012 supposedly marking the end of the world), it's visually stunning and it markets brilliantly: the Chevy Silverado is so tough it can withstand an apocalypse.
Poor Dave, though. He drove a Ford.
Brilliant.
"Needing/Getting"
First of all, OK Go was a great band to feature in a creative ad, given they've done plenty of creative music videos throughout the years.
Secondly, this may be one of the coolest commercials I've ever seen. Who knows how long this must have taken to get right. It's fascinating to watch and incorporates music beautifully, which has been proven to have amazing effects on the mind.
Third, it shows the speed and turning ability and dexterity of the Chevy.
Spectacular.
There are sure to be plenty of fantastic commercials on Super Bowl Sunday, but I find it hard to believe that any company will challenge Chevy's ads overall.
