Super Bowl Halftime Show 2012: Only Cee Lo Green Could Make Halftime Cool

By now, you know that Madonna is headlining the Super Bowl Halftime show, and perhaps you're aware that M.I.A, Nicki Minaj and Cirque du Soleil will also be joining her.

But rumors also suggest that LMFAO (are they any relation to LFO?) and Cee Lo Green could make surprise appearances.

And frankly, Cee Lo Green would be the only reason I would watch the Halftime Show. From Jocelyn Vena of MTV:

According to sources, the singer has asked "The Voice" judge to perform with her at the February 5 show. "The Insider" reports that he's been flying to New York to rehearse with the pop icon. The sources add that he will contribute his signature flair to some of her classic tunes.

It's not that I don't have respect for Madonna as an entertainer or anything—she's a classic. That said, I find the choice sort of boring and cliche and very typical of the Halftime Show.

Oh, here's a name that will generate buzz and a performer who has been around for a while but really isn't all that relevant anymore. Who cares? She'll keep the older crowd interested and we'll surround her with a bevy of young, "hip" stars to keep the teenage girls tuned in. Hooray for us.

So no, I'm not going to watch Madonna perform at Halftime. Been there, done that. But if Cee Lo Green performs, I'm totally down.

For one, I've seen him perform live with Gnarls Barkley, and he was phenomenal. The man has an incredible voice and a wacky and fun stage demeanor that adds to his performance.

Plus, wouldn't be fun to see a performance of "Forget You?" Is there anyone in America who doesn't love that song? Sure, you might be sick of it now, but aren't you just as sick of every Madonna hit as well?

Cee Lo has denied he'll perform with Madonna, but I'm holding out hope. It's the only thing that would get me in front of the television during halftime.
