Madonna Super Bowl 2012 Halftime Show: Which Songs the Pop Diva Must Perform
In case you haven't heard, Madonna is keeping busy lately. She just released W.E. at the Sundance Film Festival. It was the second feature film that she has directed. Oh, yeah, she is also performing at halftime of the Super Bowl on Sunday night.
It has been awhile since the Pop Queen was in the spotlight for her music, but what better way to thrust her back into the spotlight than on the biggest night of the sports year in this country?
Now that her moment has arrived, it is time to start thinking about what she should perform when she gets on stage tonight. It was reported that she will start with her new single, "Give Me All Your Love," which features Nicki Minaj and MIA.

While that is a smart move just to get publicity for her new album, no one cares about her new songs. It is all about her greatest hits.
So here are the songs that she has to include on her Super Bowl set list.
"MATERIAL GIRL"
There are a few options that you could make a case for as Madonna's signature song, but nothing captures the essence of her persona as well as this hit from her album Like A Virgin.
It perfectly captures the spirit of the game. While we all know there are more important things happening around us, all we can focus on is the Super Bowl because it has become a staple of our society.
There is no reason to care about a game this much, but damned if it isn't hard to stop what you are doing for three hours to see how it all plays out.
"RAY OF LIGHT"
While I am not the biggest Madonna fan in the world, I can readily admit that "Ray of Light" is one of her most complete songs.
The uptempo music gives it instant credibility to the casual listening audience. The lyrics are as strong as anything she has ever written. It could have come off as just another cheap bubblegum anthem, but she sold it well.
Perhaps I am alone on this one, but if there is one song that she sings during the Super Bowl, this would be my choice.
"MUSIC"
The last huge hit for Madonna was this love letter to the power of music. If there is one song that she should use to close her set, it should be this one.
All musicians at one point or another try to write a song about the power of music and what it means to the world. There have been few artists to actually nail what it means, but Madonna does not fall into that category.
This dance hit was a great representation of what music can do to "mix the bourgeoisie and the rebel" come together.
Let's hope that the diva's performance satisfies both groups of people when she takes the stage tonight.
