Super Bowl 2012: Patriots Strict Food Restrictions a Laughing Matter
February 5, 2012
The New England Patriots preparations for Super Bowl XLVI included meals not of the players' choosing, but it's not that big of a deal.
According to TMZ, the Patriots were forced to a strict diet the week leading up the Super Bowl. They had to eat what was put in front of them. What exactly did they have no choice in eating? TMZ's sources explain:
Our sources say team cooks came to the hotel and prepared the grub. Dinner last night was a choice of chicken, steak or fish ... with a side of vegetables.
How that is strict absolutely blows my mind. Chicken, steak or fish are your essentials, and if any NFL player is unable to eat that then perhaps they aren't even a man.
Of course, if they're vegetarian then they don't, but if that's the case, surely the team cooks are aware and had something planned out.
Everyone is looking for different angles of coverage leading up to the biggest sporting event of the year, but to call that strict is just ludicrous.
It's not as if we're the ones cooking the Patriots' dinner. Although, if I did cook them dinner it would actually taste well, but if you did, who knows how it would turn out. Some of it would be good, but others, not so much.
These NFL stars had trained cooks make them meals, so of course the food put in front of them is going to be delicious.
Sure, it may not have been what that player was craving at the moment, but it's still better food than what many others are eating.
There should be no complaints about it because it's more than likely healthier food that what the players would be eating on their own. Since they're about to play in the biggest game of the year, eating right and preparing yourself to be the best is the smart approach.
Had the report been the players were forced to eat the same thing over and over or eat something that is well publicized as disgusting, then there would actually be a problem.
