UFC 143 Resulst: What We Learned from Ed Herman vs. Clifford Starks

For the first fight on the main card of UFC 143, Ed Herman took two rounds to submit Clifford Starks.

Starks had a good first round and took that round. After a cautious start to the second round, Herman was able to get Starks to the ground and get his back to sink in the rear-naked choke.

Here is what we learned from the first fight of the pay-per-view portion of the card.

What we'll remember about this fight

The rear-naked choke to end the fight. That was pretty much the highlight of the fight.

What we learned about Ed Herman

Herman needs some more work on his stand-up. He got rocked, and luckily for him he was able to get the fight to the ground and get Starks' back. Not a bad effort here from Herman.

What we learned about Clifford Starks

Starks looked good in the first round and had Herman stunned a couple times in that round. Unfortunately for Starks, his back got taken and he got submitted. 

What's next for Herman

Herman is now on a three-fight win streak, so I wouldn't be surprised for him to get a little tougher competition. Not really sure of an opponent for him just yet.

What's next for Starks

Starks is now 1-1 in the UFC, so he will most likely get a newcomer to bounce back and avoid losing his job or someone of lower rank.
