UFC 143 Results: TKO Launches Matt Brown in Right Direction

Jeff ChaseFeb 4, 2012

After losing four of his last five UFC fights, former The Ultimate Fighter contestant Matt Brown got a much needed win at UFC 143. In the second round, Brown TKO'd Chris Cope, launching Brown in the right direction at this point in his career.

Going up against Cope, who is just 2-1 through his UFC career, was a must win for a man they call "The Immortal."

This is the way that Brown must win his matches, as three of his five UFC victories have come by way of TKO.

He fought this match in a different style than he typically does, going for big punches rather than trying to submit his opponent.

Cope isn't exactly the most difficult opponent, so it was pretty clear that Brown was the favorite. Cope had a shot in this match, though, being an UFC underdog who could take down a fighter that has been around as long as Brown.

Cope, who is predominantly a striker, was beaten at his own game. Brown won the fight by knocking out Cope with a 1:19 gone in the second round. He took him out by connecting on a right hook to Cope's ear, which officially called an end to the match.

Brown's career record now goes to 15-11, and he is going to have to hope that this will be the victory that will take him into the right direction with the UFC.
