Super Bowl Snacks That Will Steal Spotlight from Epic Game

Richard LangfordFeb 4, 2012

An event like the Super Bowl deserves epic snacks—like the ones you will find here.

These will push an already glorious day over the top. It is like Thanksgiving, only a lot worse for the heart—at least if you are going to make snacks like the ones you'll find below.

Sure, there are staples like hot wings, chips and dip. Those are all well and good, but it is tired and familiar. Super Sunday is a day for the bold.

Falcon's Chili for Men

This tasty chili recipe comes to us from Bleacher Report's Matt Faulconer. As you will see, he does not waste space in his chili with needless beans. This is all about the good stuff.

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 onion

28 oz can crushed tomatoes

4-5 teaspoons hot sauce

2 cloves minced garlic

1/4 cup red wine vinegar

1 jalapeno diced

2 teaspoons ground cumin

2 tablespoons chili powder

1 teaspoon ground cayenne

dash of oregano

1/2 bell pepper diced

Preparation

Brown the ground meat (feel free to exceed a pound) and onions. Then throw that and the rest of the ingredients into a slow cooker for three hours on high.

That's it! Simple and delicious—eat it in a bowl, or throw it over a hot dog.

Lil Tebows

This delectable and heart-stopping snack came to me just days ago. I'm calling them Lil' Tebows because like the highly mentioned QB, they are all anything people will be talking about.

Here is what you need:

Ingredients

2 packages Lil Smokies

2 packages of Bacon

16-ounce block of Mozzarella Cheese

1 1/2 cups of Italian Bread Crumbs

Pinch of garlic salt

2 Eggs

1/4 Water

2/3 Flour

1/3 Corn Starch

1 quart oil (for frying)

1 defibrillator (joking—I hope!)

Sauce

8 ounces Marinara Sauce

2 ounces Brown Sugar BBQ Sauce

Hot Sauce to taste

Preparation

Heat your oil to 370 degrees.

Wrap the Lil' Smokies in a slice of Mozzarella cheese. Then wrap in a half a strip of bacon and stick it with a toothpick to hold it together, and then set aside.

For the batter you will beat the eggs and mix with the water in a small bowl. In a medium bowl, mix the flour and cornstarch, and in a large bowl mix the bread crumbs and garlic salt.

One at a time, dip the Lil' Tebows in the flour mixture then the eggs and finally the bread crumbs. Make sure they are thoroughly coated and dunk them in the fryer.

Do not place too many in the fryer as it will decrease the temperature. Cook until they are golden brown and enjoy.

Sauce

The sauce is simple. Mix the BBQ and marinara, and add your desired amount of heat with a hot sauce of your choice.
