Brooks Orpik Hit Video: Where Clash with Daniel Paille Ranks Amongst Best Ever

Jeff ChaseFeb 4, 2012

If you are Daniel Paille of the Boston Bruins, you likely are not feeling too good right now.

During today's 2-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins, Brooks Oprik found the Bruins' winger in the middle of the second period of the match.

It was a clean hit, and Paille didn't seem to hurt as he got right back into the game and finished playing.

This was by far one of the best hits of all time, but where does it rank among some of the all time best?

Let us take a look.

4. Crosby Meets the Glass

During the 2008 Stanley Cup Finals, the Detroit Red Wings gave a huge hit on the NHL's top player in Penguins' star Sidney Crosby.

The hit was unwarranted, but there was nothing illegal about it. Unfortunately for Crosby, things didn't get any better, as his team dropped the series in seven games.

3. Umberger Gets Destroyed by Campbell

In this game between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Buffalo Sabres, Brian Campbell of the Sabres absolutely flattens out the Flyers' RJ Umberger.

This was a huge hit, and came during a huge time. It was in overtime of their game one match during the 2006 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

2. Paille Goes for a Fly

As previously mentioned, Pallie collided with Orpik in the Penguins and Bruins game. The hit is insane, and who knows how he defied gravity like that. The good thing is that he wasn't hurt, even though it looked like it should have.

1. David Booth Gets KO'd

This was a dirty hit, and it took the Florida Panthers' Booth out of the game.

Mike Richards of the Flyers came through and gave a shoulder right to the top of Booth's head, and it literally knocked him out cold.

This was a legal move back in the day, but now something like this considered illegal in the NHL.
