Super Bowl Kickoff Time 2012: David Tyree Catch Segment Will Highlight Pregame

Tim DanielsJun 3, 2018

David Tyree will get to relive his greatest NFL moment on the pregame show before Sunday's Super Bowl.

The former New York Giants receiver's miraculous catch to help upset the heavily-favored New England Patriots four years ago will be featured by NBC in a segment involving Rodney Harrison, according to SI's Richard Deitsch.

Tyree's catch has gone down as one of the most memorable in Super Bowl history. Everything from Eli Manning somehow avoiding a sack despite being caught in a mass of humanity to Tyree securing the pass on his helmet will be ingrained in the memory of fans forever.

It will be interesting to hear how Tyree remembers the experience a handful of years later and if he knew how famous would become right away. He was nothing more than a fringe contributor during his career, so it has to be special for him knowing he'll always be remembered.

Adding Harrison to the conversation will bring another angle to it. He had Tyree in his grasp the entire way to the ground, but couldn't manage to pop the ball loose to secure the win for New England. It's an opportunity that he probably thinks about often. It would have been his third ring.

Other interviews on the pregame show, which starts at 1 p.m. ET, will include Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Victor Cruz, Tom Coughlin and Robert Kraft among others. Aaron Rodgers and Hines Ward will be on hand to serve as guest analysts.

There will also be a conversation between Matt Lauer and President Barack Obama, likely to be a mix between football and politics. It will be intriguing to see if the President picks a side in the big game since he is a big sports fan.

All told, it's shaping up to be another unforgettable Super Sunday.
