WWE: How Chris Jericho and CM Punk Will Rule 2012

Alex HallMay 31, 2018

If there's one thing Chris Jericho is really good at, it's making an entrance. If there's another thing he's pretty good at, it's making an impact whenever the camera is focused on him.

Jericho will be one of the main focal points on Monday Night Raw this year. He's the best overall talent on the roster. With his mic skills, ability to evoke reactions from the crowd and in-ring talent, the Canadian wrestler will make sure "Raw is Jericho" once more.

Y2J made an impact last Monday night when he gave WWE Champion CM Punk a nice Codebreaker, starting a storyline that could end up stealing the show at WrestleMania.

Punk and Jericho are two of the very best in WWE right now, and considering the few matches they've had together in the past, there's no reason they can't put together the best feud since Christian and Randy Orton went at it last Summer.

Assuming that the two men who claim to be the "best in the world" really do end up working together, that instantly puts the main spotlight on their storyline every Monday night and, subsequently, every pay-per-view event.

Jericho has a great deal of hype around him nowadays considering the way he came back, and some fans are unsure of whether he's playing heel or face right now (though, the incident with Punk helps clear that up). Pair that up with Punk's recent push and WWE title reign, and these two will have center stage for months to come.

On that stage, I expect both superstars to put together a feud that very well could be the best of both of their careers. Y2J had a great one with Shawn Michaels a few years back and Punk's had greats of his own, but these two seem made to work together.

The Straight Edge Superstar and Fozzy frontman can both cut great promos—to the point if all the two did one Monday night was verbally abuse each other in the ring, the story would still gain traction.

It almost goes without saying that both are more than able to conduct a match. Jericho holds the record for most Intercontinental Championship reigns, while Punk has held the ECW, World Heavyweight and WWE Championship in recent years.

The fact they are the same size allows them to pull off a few more power moves than we would normally see from the two as well. Jericho and the WWE Champion aren't the biggest or tallest guys in the company, so often they'll find themselves giving up height and weight to their opponents.

Y2J is just eight pounds heavier than the Chicago-born Punk, while the one-time Ring of Honor star is two inches taller than Jericho. This means we'll get to see Y2J pull off some of the big-time backbreakers and whatnot that we saw from him back during his Rey Mysterio feud. Punk will also be able to do some powerslams and other big-time moves we fans don't normally see him do.

Judging by the fans' reaction to Jericho's Codebreaker on Punk last Monday, it's clear they want to see this feud happen, and if it does, both superstars will rule the wrestling world this year.
