WrestleMania 28: 9 Wrestlers Who Could Host the Event
Sometimes who hosts an event is just as important as the event, itself.
When you talk about the excitement of WrestleMania 28, the host can have just as much of an effect on what happens throughout the event.
Over the years, WrestleMania has been a staple for entertainers, sports stars and the best of the best. While we all would love seeing movies stars (Gabrielle Union) and maybe a sports star or two (Tim Tebow or LeBron James), having a wrestler host the event makes the most sense.
And we all know that last year when The Rock hosted WrestleMania 27, it blew the roof off and led to the marquee match between The Rock and John Cena.
There are some obvious and not so obvious choices for hosts of this event. Here are some famous wrestlers who could help set the stage for an amazing event.
Dusty Rhodes
1 of 9The son of a plumber could be a great host for the show.
With his "White Man's" rap and unique Texas style, he could actually steal the show.
As a former WWF star and a three-time NWA world heavyweight champion, he certainly knows a thing or two about the best performances on the grandest stages.
Goldust
2 of 9The man is gold in a place like South Beach.
If he is not in the pay-per-view event against his brother Cody, maybe he and his ex-wife Terri Runnels (Marlena) could raise the roof.
His hosting the event could also promote himself in a future PPV event against brother Cody to see who the better brother is in the ring.
Edge
3 of 9He had to leave the business way too soon.
While Adam Copeland is being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year, his need to be part of the WWE Universe is felt throughout the company.
It could be argued that the WWE's problems with storylines and injuries began when Edge was told he needed to leave the business.
Let him host the event and stir up some hate and discontent.
Jesse Ventura
4 of 9The former governor has a gift for gab. And he would be perfect for this role.
Ventura used to be part of a great team with Vince McMahon, Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan. He is a natural. And while he hosted the event, he could speak as to why he is better than Arnold Schwarzenegger and Hulk Hogan.
At times, Ventura is a bitter man, but at times, he is brilliant.
Mick Foley
5 of 9He has been a major part of the WWE program lately. And his gift for speaking could pay off in volumes.
Foley is the kind of guy everyone likes in and out of the ring and the three-time WWE world champion knows a thing or two about getting the crowds involved in a PPV and at arenas around the country.
Roddy Piper
6 of 9I want to see this more than anyone.
Piper is the only man who can out-talk The Rock and Steve Austin. And the fans love it.
Piper has such a respect for the business, and the fans and wrestlers have such a respect for him.
And while the business is not what it used to be and he is a very vocal former superstar, Piper would bring ratings like no other former wrestler.
Sable
7 of 9I had to bring some beauty to this list.
Sable is beyond compare.
The wife of Brock Lesnar (lucky guy) could really steal the show. Sable has had some great moments in the WWF and at PPV events. Could she do it again in South Beach.
And could she bring Brock Lesnar with her?
Shawn Michaels
8 of 9He swears he is not going to get back in the ring.
But could he come to Miami and be the "Showstopper" in another capacity?
Michaels rocks the mic and is still one of the most loved wrestlers in the world of all time.
His raspy voice would be awesome in Florida.
Stone Cold Steve Austin
9 of 9All we need to see is the breaking of the glass.
Austin would own the state of Florida as well as already owning the state of Texas.
His attitude and his chutzpah is just what the WWE needs to host this event. And maybe if it is done right and not directly after the WrestleMania event, he could at some point challenge CM Punk in a match for the ages.
