NBC's decision to allow football fans to watch Super Bowl XLVI between the New York Giants and New England Patriots through a free live stream is a brilliant move that will benefit many fans who will have trouble watching the game.

Let's face it, some people have terrible luck, even on Super Bowl Sunday. However, if your car breaks down, you have to work, or something else happens that causes you to miss all or some of the game, you can watch a great live stream on your smartphone or tablet from wherever you are.

If the power goes out at your home and the television doesn't work, you won't miss the end of the game because the live stream can be watched on someone's phone or tablet.

This is such a brilliant idea, and I cannot understand why it wasn't thought of sooner, especially with the internet having such a profound impact on our lives.

Not only will this free live streaming of the Super Bowl help fans whose Sunday night doesn't go according to plan, it will allow the sport to reach an even greater audience.

Not everyone has a television, but most people have a phone, and many of those are smartphones. Many people have computers nowadays too, so no matter what kind of technology person you are, there's probably a way for you to watch the Super Bowl.

Allowing the Super Bowl to be live streamed for free, opens the NFL to grow even further on the internet and have more opportunities to expand the sport to as many people as possible.

NBC has done a marvelous job of ensuring the Super Bowl will be streamed online for free, and the amount of people who will benefit from that could be enormous.
