NBA Rumors: Kenyon Martin Insane to Even Consider Joining New York Knicks
Kenyon Martin isn't the offensive force he once was in the league. In fact, most consider him an asset on defense only.
He's currently waiting out his contract with Chinese basketball team Xinjiang, which he left in December, and hoping to get back with an NBA team in the next few weeks.
ESPN's Brian Windhorst cites ESPN the Magazine's Chris Broussard and says teams that interest Martin include:
"The Heat, Los Angeles Clippers, San Antonio Spurs, New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks. According to league executives, Martin is mostly interested in having an assured role and minutes on a contending team.
"
Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but the only thing the Knicks are contending for is the most embarrassing and hopeless team in the NBA.
If Martin's looking for controversy, disappointment and frustration then he'll be joining the perfect team. If he's truly looking for an assured role on a contending team then he must look elsewhere.
The Knicks won six games in the month of January and they lost 11, including nine of their last 11 games.
They excel at nothing and they have no dependable guard play. Carmelo Anthony, Amar'e Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler are far from on the same page, and coach Mike D'Antoni truly doesn't know what to do with his superstars let alone the rest of his roster.
New York is even counting on Baron Davis to come back from injury and give the team a spark.
If the losing, drama and instability don't scare Martin away, the fact that the Knicks are hoping a 32-year-old point guard with injury concerns should.
This team isn't ready to contend with anything right now and Martin would truly have to lose his mind to consider joining the Knickerbocker circus.
