NBA Rumors: Miami Heat Will Miss out on Joel Przybilla and Kenyon Martin

Eric BowmanJun 7, 2018

The Miami Heat are in the market for veteran big men, but they won't be landing anyone anytime soon.

Brian Windhorst of ESPN reported that the Heat have offered contracts to both Joel Przybilla and Kenyon Martin

Przybilla is expected to sign with the Heat or the Chicago Bulls, and Martin is interested in the Los Angeles ClippersSan Antonio SpursNew York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks

Since Martin wants to play good minutes, the Heat should be immediately eliminated from his long list. As for Przybilla, he would be much better off joining the Bulls.

Currently, the Heat don't have room to add a player, which means they'd have to cut someone. That's not that big of a problem, but since the Heat have a host of big men, it would benefit Przybilla to play in Chicago.

Listed at 7'1", 245 pounds, Przybilla is not a dominant force by any means, but he is a big body that will be a solid addition to the bench. The elite teams always ensure that they have great depth, as it will help them in the long run.

Martin is still playing in China, and won't be eligible for an NBA team until a couple of weeks. He's mostly wanted for his defense, but he can put up points. He averaged 8.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game in 48 games for the Denver Nuggets last year.

Seeing as how the Heat have Chris Bosh, Udonis Haslem, Joel Anthony, Eddy Curry and Dexter Pittman, adding Marting or Przybilla into that mix is very unlikely.

The Bulls have a much bigger need for a guy like Przybilla. The veteran center believes he can contribute in a limited role, but should he join the Heat he'd be in an almost non-existent role since they have plenty of big men.

With only Joakim Noah and Omar Asik, the Bulls are a better option for Przybilla. Chicago is the best team in the NBA right now, and adding Przybilla would greatly help them down the stretch.

Miami doesn't have the room, and it would be a wise decision if the Heat just stuck with what they had and continued on with their season. It's nice to add more depth, but they're just not a great option for Przybilla or Martin at this point.
