Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao: The Biggest Fight That Never Happened

Austen E. MarshellJun 7, 2018

So it's official that Floyd Mayweather Jr. will challenge welterweight titleholder Miguel Cotto on May 5th instead of fighting Manny Pacquiao.

Dud.

I may not be the biggest boxing fan but I don't speak about something unless I know.

This, I know.

With all due respect to Manny and his trainers, it really, really seems like he's ducking Floyd.

This fight was supposed to happen and there's really no reason why it hasn't except for Pacquiao not stepping up.  And you only wonder why because his reasoning can't be fear, it just can't be.

The fight has been built up so much it's dead now.  It's kind of like when you're hungry for a long time and finally sit down to eat.  You were so hungry that you're not anymore.

This has been drawn out for too long and it's whatever at this point.

Floyd really called him out.

It's really like after school in junior high or something.  Floyd spoke your name, and called you out in front of everybody man, everybody.

Manny, silent.  Nothing.

These two should be fighting.

Call me out for not being a so called real boxing fan also.  I'll take it like a man because I know this.

Mike Tyson is a beast and Lennox Lewis couldn't beat him in a street fight.

I'd hate to get cracked square in the face by George Foreman or Evander Holyfield and Ali is really the GOAT but Frazier beat him in 14-rounds.

Ali said "cut 'em off," referring to his gloves in the classic fight.

Check out the HBO special "Thrilla in Manilla" if you don't believe.

As much respect as you have for him, you have to wonder about Manny right now.

Is it about money or the date Pac Man?  What's the difference between May 5th and June 9th?  And would you want to split the purse 50/50 if you beat Floyd?

One of the last reports was that Floyd had talked to Manny directly on something called a cell phone.

How can you not reach an agreement for the MGM for the fight everybody wants to see?

When we talked about this at work today, a colleague said "oh man, it doesn't matter about Floyd callin' him a punk on twitter."

I said, "yeah, you're right."  "That's all for us to gossip about anyway isn't it?"

We chuckled and kept along with the work day.

I come home to a quote via ESPN and Twitter, "I'm fighting Miguel Cotto on May 5th because Miss Pac Man is ducking me," said Mayweather.

Floyd isn't just calling you out now Manny.  You are being taunted, disrespected and--called out.

So instead of ordering the biggest fight in history at mi casa, I'll go to a friends and check out Floyd and Miguel and bring my share of chicken wings.  I can save some money in this economy anyway.

The question now though is, what's up Manny?
