Puppy Bowl 2012: 5 Similarities with the Super Bowl
This Sunday, Animal Planet will be hosting their eighth annual Puppy Bowl, which will be held a few hours before the Super Bowl begins.
Even though both events are played by completely different species, the two events actually have some utterly weird similarities.
How is that so? Let us take a look:
1. We Can't Take Our Eyes Off the Game
If you are watching the Puppy Bowl, you likely won't be able to take your eyes off the action. There is just no denying it, puppies are cute. Watching them try to play this game is just entertaining, even though they have no idea what they are doing, and we have no idea what we are watching.
They are just puppies, but somehow they always get our attention.
Just like the Super Bowl. When the action is going on, we just can't take our eyes off the game. Otherwise, we may miss something huge.
Just like you may miss that "Oh, how cute" moment that everybody will be talking about at the water cooler the next day.
2. We Hate the Half Time Show
No matter what the NFL does, viewers are always going to hate the half time show.
Well you know what? Same thing for the Puppy Bowl!
People watching this are dog people, and by no means do they want to see cats playing around at half time. No sir. We want more dogs.
It is just like this year with Madonna. People who ENJOY football don't typically enjoy Madonna.
It just isn't fair. But you know what, it is always a good excuse to go grab a snack.
3. Some of Us Can't Wait for Commercials
One of the biggest deals about the Super Bowl is the commercials. Now, while they don't typically show the new funny commercials during this event, some people can't wait for them to start.
That is because they want to watch anything but puppies.
You know what, though, there are plenty of people who feel the same way about the football game.
Sometimes you just have people there for the wrong reasons.
4. There is Always Controversy
Both games always come with their fair share of controversy. Perhaps you hate the call that the refs make, or you don't like the place of the ball.
Well, same thing goes here. Sometimes a puppy gets wrongfully called for a penalty for going to the bathroom, and you just can't stand to see them penalized for something they didn't do.
Until the Puppy Bowl gets replay going, this will be an ongoing issue.
5. There are Fights
It is always destined to happen when there are two teams fighting over something they want. In the Super Bowl, it is the football.
If there is a fumble, there are pileups and people pushing, punching and biting. It happens, whether we like it or not.
The Puppy Bowl is no different. When two, heck, maybe three dogs all have their eyes locked in on that awesome toy, there is a chance that there could be a little ruckus to see who gets it.
It is a part of the game, and there is nothing we can do about it.
Enjoy the Puppy Bowl on Feb. 5 at 3:00 PM ET on Animal Planet
