Super Bowl Predictions 2012: Winners of MVP and Sunday's Biggest Awards

Tim KeeneyJun 7, 2018

Super Bowl Sunday is closing in on us, and here's a look at who will the day's biggest awards (some real and some not so much).

Best Commercial

Volkswagen had a lot of success last year with the "Star Wars kid," and it has managed to bring its game yet again:

This commercial has everything. It has a car so great that it forces an extremely fat dog (it has an extremely fat dog) to work out. And it has a weird alien character who has a butt for a chin.

That's everything, right?

No one's topping this.

Unsung Player

Stevan Ridley missed the AFC Championship against the Baltimore Ravens, but he will be active for the Super Bowl, and he is ready to make an impact no one will be expecting.

Ridley has been far more explosive than BenJarvus Green-Ellis all year, and now would be a good time for Bill Belichick to truly utilize him.

Defensive Player of the Game

If either of these defenses are going to slow down the opposing quarterbacks, they will have to bring the pressure. The most likely candidate to rack up the sacks is on New York's defense.

Osi Umenyiora has better lately, but I think Jason Pierre-Paul has a huge game as New England puts its attention on Osi.

MVP

As much as it pains me to say it, I think Manning is going to walk away as the MVP. He has a few explosive receivers who could win it, but he will spread it out between them.

This game is going to feature a lot of passing. The QB on the winning team will win MVP, there's no question in my mind about that. I'm just wondering if Eli will have that confused little look on his face when he is handed the award.
