National Signing Day 2012: Fanbases That Have a Reason to Celebrate
Buckeyes, Cardinal and Seminole faithful rejoice because your teams came away with a haul of prospects worth celebrating. The future is bright for your schools.
A lot can happen between now and the time these prospects hit the field and things often don't work out the way they are drawn up, but the shear volume, combined with a savvy strategy, ensures these teams will come out in the catbird seat.
Ohio State
Urban Meyer might just work out in Columbus. The class that he was able to put together in a short time is staggering.
Scout.com ranks them as having the third-best class, and ESPN ranks them as having the sixth-best class.
A whopping seven players from Scout's top 100 list signed letters of intent with the Buckeyes. This is a diverse and talented class. Of their 25 prospects, Scout ranks 15 of them as 4- or 5-Star players, and the remaining 10 are all 3-Star players.
Twelve of these recruits are slotted for offense and 13 will be on the defensive side. This class will make an instant and lasting impact.
Stanford
Stanford turned an impressive recruiting class into an elite one with a late push. Scout has them at No. 6 and ESPN at No. 12.
This class cannot be judged on rankings alone, though. Stanford went for positions they needed. For example, they didn't ink a QB, but they are already loaded with QB talent.
What they did do is ensure their dominance on the offensive line will continue. They landed five offensive linemen that are at least 4-Star prospects on Scout.
They also got a 4-Star running back with a familiar name. Barry Sanders Jr. should be filling up highlight reels for years to come running behind this amazing line.
Florida State
The Seminoles are set to return to dominance. ESPN ranks them as the second best class. Scout has them lower at No. 10, but while Scout ranks them lower, they do not deny the star power of this class.
Florida State landed eight of the top 100 recruits. This is more than any other school. And that talent is in all the right positions. They got a pair of Scouts' 5-Star defensive ends, a 5-Star QB, RB, DT and CB.
This class is loaded with players that will make an instant impact and lead them to the promise land down the road.
