National Signing Day 2012: What Dorial Green-Beckham Means for Missouri

Ryan RudnanskyFeb 1, 2012

When Missouri landed Dorial Green-Beckham on National Signing Day on Wednesday, it was more than securing the No. 1 receiver in the 2012 class. This was Dorial Green-Beckham, the most hyped receiver to come out of high school in years.

At 6'6", 220 pounds, Green-Beckham is a monster of an athlete. He can outmuscle press coverage while still having the speed and fluidity to be dynamic downfield. On top of this, he has the hands, hand-eye coordination and length to make incredible catches and turn bad throws into touchdowns.

Green-Beckham will surely see playing time right away at Missouri. Dual-threat quarterback James Franklin—who had a good season overall last year—will be looking his way often and Missouri's offense stands to improve as a result.

Missouri made its mark last season with its running game, ranked ninth in the nation. The combination of sophomore running back Henry Josey and Franklin proved to be explosive as the Tigers averaged 244 rushing yards per game.

Now group Green-Beckham in with T.J. Moe at receiver and the Tigers offense could be very balanced and score significantly more than last season. The Tigers averaged 32.8 points per game as it was last season, and Green-Beckham's arrival projects the Tigers to have a top offense in college football.

It's easy to get lost in the hype, and Green-Beckham is just one player, but with a significant role in the offense for DGB, it's not unrealistic to see Missouri becoming a dangerous ranked team in 2012.

Welcome to Missouri, DGB. You've already been welcomed with open arms.
