NBA Trade Rumors: Derrick Rose Needs to Recruit Dwight Howard to the Bulls

Al RiegerJun 5, 2018

Dwight Howard is rumored to be interested in the Chicago Bulls.  While it's still a long-shot, it definitely deserves consideration.

With Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard on the same team, the Chicago Bulls would be stupid scary. As much as I hate to say it, Rose needs to take lessons from the Miami Heat and recruit.

Believe it or not, there are politics in the NBA. Howard doesn't want to play on the Bulls if Derrick Rose doesn't want him there. It's a respect thing. Howard knows this is Rose's team, and he doesn't want to impose.

Nonetheless, Rose needs to swallow his pride and try to get the best center in the NBA since Shaq on his team. In response to Howard's comments about possibly joining the 2010-11 reigning MVP in Chi-town, Rose told the Chicago Tribune,

"

Dwight, he’s a great player. Who wouldn’t want to play with him, but you never know what’s going to happen.

"

He said the same thing about LeBron James when the Bulls vehemently pursued him last offseason.

I strongly believe that James was seriously considering joining the Bulls. Had Rose made more of an effort to lure James, it might have happened.

Dwight Howard is on the trading block, and there's a feeding frenzy. Howard has averaged an astonishing 20 points, 15.3 rebounds and 2 blocks this season. Superman is the best interior defender in the league. The Bulls were not on his original wish list, but now he says he would be open to the possibility of playing with Rose.

Chicago has fallen in love with their role players with big hearts; Luol Deng, Joakim Noah, Taj Gibson. While they might be love-a-bull, they are not the answer to the Miami Heat. LeBron James and Dwyane Wade can get around any of the Bulls' "top notch" defenders. They won't get around Howard as easily.

Rose and Howard can become the best point guard-center duo in the history of the game. Both are the best at their respective positions. It doesn't matter who else is on the team. The Heat proved that.

Without Rose, the Bulls don't scare anyone. Together, Rose and Howard will have the rest of the NBA shaking in their sneakers.
