Jordan Payton Will Sign with UCLA over Washington and Cal
UCLA continues to build on an already impressive class with a commitment from wide receiver Jordan Payton.
According to Sean Ceglinsky of ESPN and CBS Sports, Payton will sign a letter of intent with the Bruins after verbally committing to the University of Washington yesterday.
The wide receiver originally chose California at the US Army All-American Game, but changed his decision to the Huskies shortly after highly-touted safety Shaq Thompson made the same choice earlier in the week.
Now it appears that Payton will join a very good class at UCLA as the school tries to rebuild under new coach Jim Mora Jr.
The California native has good size for a receiver at 6'2", and knows how to use his body to beat smaller defenders to the football. He also has a good enough speed to make him a constant threat on every play.
Payton played on both sides of the field in high school and helped lead his team to numerous championships as the most athletic player on the field.
With the Bruins, he will be able to play with fellow incoming freshmen Devin Fuller, a quarterback from New Jersey. Fuller is rated as the No. 3 quarterback in the country according to Scout.com, and the two could develop a solid on-field relationship for the next few seasons.
The Pac-12 has seen a lot of action on national signing day with a large number of players not only committing to various schools, but decommitting at the last minute as well.
As the dust settles, all of the coaching changes will not slow down any rivalries within the conference.
