JaQuay Williams to Auburn: Is the 4-Star WR the Tigers Top 2012 Recruit?
JaQuay Williams was deciding between Auburn and Georgia, but the four-star wide receiver (No. 100 Scout, No. 90 Rivals, No. 14 WR, Scout No. 16 WR) ended up heading to the Tigers.
Williams is one of the top receivers in the country coming out of high school and he is coming off a senior season out of Tyrone, GA (Sandy Creek) where he hauled in 47 receptions for 972 yards and nine touchdowns.
He even brought back a kick and two punts due to his electric athleticism and speed.
He has been compared to Anquan Boldin by Rivals, but he also has the size, body control and big paws to become a serious threat in the SEC with Auburn.
Auburn has several other stud recruits such as Jovon Robinson (No. 10 RB per Rivals), Shane Callahan (No. 22 OT, Rivals), Joshuan Holsey (No. 15 CB, Rivals) and a pair of linebackers in Cassanova McKinzy and Javiere Mitchell.
So is Jacquay Williams the best of the best among the Auburn expected commitments?
Yes, the star wide receiver has a ton of upside and can become an immediate impact player in 2012. His physical tools cannot be taught and his body control in traffic has a ton of promise.
Emory Blake and Travante Stallworth are both returning for "War Eagle" so the cupboard is clearly not bare at Auburn.
In the SEC it will be interesting to see how much time Williams sees either on special teams or at wide receiver.
We have seen youngsters shine right away such as Tre Mason and Jaquay Williams very well could do the same next season.
Throw in one of the elite coaching staffs in America and Mr. Williams could soon develop into a star for the Tigers in the very near future.
