Josh Harvey-Clemons to Georgia over Florida and Florida State: Good Move?
Outside linebacker Josh Harvey-Clemons has committed to the Georgia Bulldogs over Florida and Florida State.
Harvey-Clemons could not have made a wrong choice in this situation. However, the Bulldogs are the right choice for the Georgia native.
Immediate playing time may not be available for Harvey-Clemons. Cornelius Washington and Jarvis Jones will command their posts on the outside again next season, but Harvey-Clemons could see time in obvious pass-rush situations.
He possesses excellent closing speed and would form an impressive duo with Jones on the outside. Both have experience at safety and would give the Bulldogs an overwhelming amount of quickness in the box.
Do not be surprised if Bulldog fans begin whispering about Harvey-Clemons as a starter the minute they set eyes on his formidable skill set.
Outside of playing time, Harvey-Clemons should feel comfortable about his situation in Georgia. The school is close to home, and the Bulldogs should be one of the best teams in college football next season.
Aaron Murray returns to lead the offense behind center, and running back Isaiah Crowell should be much better entering his sophomore season.
Defensively, the Bulldogs return every major contributor outside of standout cornerback Brandon Boykin, including their talented outside linebacker Jones.
Harvey-Clemons could have entered the college football waters at either Florida or Florida State. However, each team is relying on a bevy of young talent to reestablish themselves among the elite teams of the college football world.
Harvey-Clemons would have been one of the best players in either 2012 recruiting class, but he will have a chance to stand out among the Bulldogs' current recruits.
Rather than enter a situation with the Gators or Seminoles with a still-adjusting coaching staff and an uncertain future, Harvey-Clemons enters Athens under veteran head coach Mark Richt and an already proven Bulldog squad.
Georgia turned heads this season by bouncing back and contending in the SEC. Players like Harvey-Clemons will make sure this team maintains their position among the SEC titans for the next few seasons.
The Bulldogs provide a major college football atmosphere, a ready-to-win team and the chance for Harvey-Clemons to stick out among an average 2012 recruiting class.
