Tottenham Hotspur Game Recap: Luka Modric Proves His Worth Yet Again
Except for a brief period in the second half where Wigan Athletic looked like threatening the Tottenham Hotspur goal, the Spurs dominated through and through. Defensive solidity combined with offensive fluidity meant that there was only going to be one result.
Gareth Bale once again proved why he was last years PFA player of the year with a sensational performance that resulted in two sublime goals. Scott Parker was his usual industrious self, and Benoit Assou-Ekotto provided much support from the left.
However, for me, the man of the match was the little Croat, Luka Modric.

How many times have we been bewildered by the phenomenal skill of Modric; the Croat had it on full display against Wigan yesterday.
Spurs needed a good win, coming back from an unfortunate loss with Manchester City, and Modric assured that Spurs would come up with all three points.
The first goal started with, as usual, Parker winning the ball and initiating the offense. After playing the ball around the box, Luka Modric showed off some lovely bit of skill and laid perhaps the pass of the season to Gareth Bale.
Bale in turn controlled the ball beautifully and scored the first goal.
If the divine assist to Bale was not enough, Modric came around and scored the second goal. And what a goal it was.
After being a bit lucky due to some sloppy defending from the Wigan players, Modric turned from the edge of the box and scored into right corner of Ali-Al-Habsi's goal.
Bale scored the third goal with some sublime piece of skill to ensure Wigan could not come back.
The title race is wide open yet again as City lost to a defensively solid Everton courtesy of a Darron Gibson screamer. Furthermore, Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw by Swansea meaning that Tottenham are seven points clear from fourth place Chelsea.
