NBA Trade Rumors: LA Lakers Have No Time to Waste in Ramon Sessions Scenario

Gabe ZaldivarFeb 1, 2012

The LA Lakers have an undesirable decision to make amongst Ramon Sessions, Gilbert Arenas and staying the course with the rabble they have. Recent movement on the Cavaliers front makes it crucial the Lakers pull the trigger now.

Alex Kennedy of Hoopsworld reported earlier Tuesday that multiple teams have expressed interest in newly-popular Ramon Sessions.

Kennedy delves into the rumors that we have been hearing for the past couple of days that has the Lakers eyeing the Cavaliers point guard. It seems that they are not the only game in town for the Cavs.

However, the Lakers aren’t the only team expressing interest in Sessions. Many teams have been calling to see what the Cavaliers plan to do with their back-up point guard. Sessions’ agent, Jared Karnes, will speak with Cavaliers general manager Chris Grant this week to discuss his client’s future.

There is also the rumor that the Lakers could be keen on bringing in Gilbert Arenas off the scrap heap of NBA free agents. Via Alex Kennedy.

The Lakers now have to ponder if they are really all that confident in the current state of affairs as a team that has lost four of the last seven games.

Derek Fisher is increasingly geriatric, Steve Blake is banged up and a couple of rookies are getting used far more than should be comfortable to a presumed contender.

The team has found it hard to score this year, and a good portion of that stems from the point guard position.

Sessions would not carry a scoring load on his own, scoring just 9.1 points per game and shooting 34 percent from the field.

He does run the pick-and-roll effectively and would be a guard that could run the floor and distribute better than prospects like Andrew Goudelock.

While I still think Gilbert Arenas and the possibilities he brings in scoring are a far better fit for the "go big or go home" Lakers, I will contend that the Lakers have to do something.

Before long, the awful decision between Sessions and Arenas will be just Arenas and nothing. If they are indeed fixed on Sessions as a solution to their woes, they have to pull off a trade immediately, precisely because the Cavaliers will not wait for any team.
