Eddie Goldman to Florida State: Seminoles Land 5-Star DT Prospect
The day has finally come for Eddie Goldman to make his decision on where he will be eating up offensive linemen for the foreseeable future. After much thought and deliberation, Goldman is going to Florida State.
Goldman made the announcement live on ESPNU alongside friends and family as a part of the national signing day festivities. The commitment was also confirmed on Twitter by Rivals.
Rivals has the 6'4", 307-pound monster of a young man as the No. 7 prospect in the nation. The 5-star defensive tackle from The Friendship Collegiate Academy in Washington D.C., had a great many things to ponder on his way into Wednesday's announcement.
The choice couldn't have been easy when you consider that he was selecting among 50 offers received and in-home visits from Alabama coach Nick Saban, Auburn coach Gene Chizik and Florida State's coach Jimbo Fisher, who got the commitment.
The kid has his head on straight in what is important in the decision process, though. He let us all know just what kind of distractions he was getting ahead of this all-important decision. Via SI.com:
"I get like 100 requests a day on Facebook. It's amazing, but at the same time you got to block all that out because it's not important. The final deciding factors for me choosing a school were the teams' future, how it's going to be in a year or two and my comfort level with the team and the coaching staff.
"
In the end, the soft-spoken young man had to do right by himself and has no given every last Florida State supporter reason to celebrate.
According to Rivals, Goldman can already squat max 500 lbs and has a vertical of 26 inches. They don't give accolade like one of the best tackles in the nation for nothing.
Goldman brings size, power and an amazing first step to a program that will be all the better for having him. Bright days are ahead for the Seminoles, and brutal ends are in store for all those that have to face them.
