Tracy Howard to Miami: Hurricanes Land 5-Star CB Prospect

Cornerback Tracy Howard doesn't have elite size and speed, but it is good enough to allow him to excel with the skill-set he possesses.

According to ESPN's Joe Schad, he'll be taking that skill-set to Miami:

Howard's versatility and knowledge of schemes makes him a prospect any school would love to get its hands on. His instincts and technique are also very impressive and he makes for a very good press corner, given his aggressive style of play. He also displays little wasted movement when turning and running and his coverage skills could make him a lock-down corner in college.

Beyond this, Howard's length and leaping ability will allow him to bat down jump balls and his tackling ability will make him strong in run coverage, especially if he adds some bulk. He also has good recovery speed.

You add in Howard's impressive footwork and it's no wonder he's the No. 1 cornerback and No. 18 recruit in the nation, according to ESPNU.

His ball skills and crispness off the line could be improved, but overall you're looking at a very talented and complete corner prospect.

The Hurricanes were looking for a corner to lock down opposing No. 1 receivers, especially the stronger ones, and Howard is their guy.
