Liverpool Transfer News: Kenny Daglish Foolish to Hold Reds Steady
Liverpool may well want to stay still, but it's hard to understand why.
After all, this is a club that sits in fifth place in the English Premier League standings. They are 16 points behind Manchester United and Manchester City and are even four points back of their nearest rival, Chelsea.
So, it's more than a little confusing that according to Emirates 247, manager Kenny Daglish is not looking to make any moves.

"Despite the Reds being linked with a host of players over the last few weeks the Scot (Daglish) said there was no business being done.
"
In the same article, Daglish was quoted in no uncertain terms saying that his roster is set.
"There is no one going in or out of the club before the transfer window (closes).
"
Make no mistake about it, Liverpool is a good squad, but that's not what you should be striving for at the professional level. Being above average is not good enough, especially in a league with two of the top teams in the world.
The Reds aren't going to ever make progress holding the roster they have now. The two Manchester clubs are two of the best in the world and are certainly not going anywhere anytime soon. The only way that anyone will ever make progress and compete with those clubs is to shake things up.
If Liverpool can't get to any better than 16 points short of them now, it's not going to happen in future seasons.
As was pointed out by the Emirates articles, there had been speculation that Liverpool might be interested in acquiring Carlos Tevez from Manchester City. Liverpool is insisting that that move is nothing more than a rumor, but why not try it?
Obviously, clubs aren't going to win championships every year; they are rare things. But fans do want know that their teams are willing to go for it every year. By standing pat with a fifth place roster, the Reds aren't giving a reason to be very confident for the future.
