Dorial Green-Beckham: 3 Reasons He Can't Afford to Pass up Arkansas

Rob GoldbergJun 4, 2018

Dorial Green-Beckham has narrowed his choices down to Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas, but he would be crazy if he does not sign with the Razorbacks.

The top receiver in the nation has the perfect mix of size, speed and catching ability to make him a dominant threat for whichever team he chooses. Scout.com ranks him as the top overall player in the nation and says he "may be the best receiver to come out in years."

There are no wrong answers, but if Green-Beckham wants to reach his full potential he will choose Arkansas for these reasons:

1. The SEC is the Best Conference in the Country

The Southeastern Conference has won the last six national championships. This past year, two members of the SEC West faced each other in the title game.

Offensive players struggle to get past the best defenses in the country with the top athletes roaming the field. Playing in this type of environment every week will force Green-Beckham to improve when he struggles early.

The Big 12 is known for having high-powered offenses but poor defenses. The best athletes can get complacent by beating less talented cornerbacks and linebackers and not work on weak spots.

In addition, as the best conference the SEC gets the most attention from national media. If he plays well, Green-Beckham will be able to showcase his talent in front of the entire country on a regular basis.

This alone should rule out Oklahoma and Texas.

2. Tyler Wilson Will Be the Perfect Fit at Quarterback

The SEC does not have too many elite passing quarterbacks, but Tyler Wilson is a rare breed.

The Arkansas quarterback led the conference in passing yards at quarterback efficiency with a quality 24-to-6 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

Wilson is very adept at throwing to his receivers down field and he will help Green-Beckham as he transitions to the college level.

Texas had questions at quarterback all season and Missouri's James Franklin is more of a running quarterback than a passer.

3. He Will Be Needed Immediately

Arkansas had two of the best receivers in the nation last season in sure-handed Jarius Wright and big-play threat Joe Adams.

Unfortunately for the Razorbacks, both players are seniors and will need to be replaced before next year.

This is where Green-Beckham can step in and become the go-to player for a top-notch offense. As often as head coach Bobby Petrino likes to pass the ball, the receiver can amass some impressive statistics right out of the gate.

While any team could use a player of this skill, Oklahoma already has four incoming receivers in the current recruiting class. Missouri also has a solid No. 1 threat with T.J. Moe.

Arkansas will be the perfect match between a player and team that truly need each other.
