Waste Management Open 2012: Preview, Tee Time and TV Schedule

Those looking for something to occupy their time on Sunday before the Super Bowl need to only look at the world of golf.

One of the great traditions of the early season will take place this week at the Waste Management Open of Phoenix. This means that the rowdy crowds of the par-three 16th hole will be back, cheering and booing as they see fit. 

Mark Wilson won the tournament a year ago with a score of 18-under-par. 

Where: TPC Scottsdale, Scottsdale, Arizona. 

When: Thursday, Feb. 2—Sunday, Feb. 5.

Golfer to Watch: Rickie Fowler

He has yet to win a PGA Tour event, although one of his closest tries was at this tournament in 2010. Fowler is still very young, but he needs to win a tournament this season. 

He comes from California and went to college at Oklahoma State, so he's clearly familiar with the western style of golf. This is a great chance for him to break through and win, moving towards true stardom.

Prediction: Webb Simpson. 

Simpson has been one of the most consistent golfers in the world for the last year. This year has potential to be a great one for Simpson, who won twice last year. 

His overall shot-making ability will play well in the desert. Simpson is the man to beat this week.
