Blake Griffin New Dunk Video: Is 'Monster Jam' Greatest of All Time?
Yo LeBron, I’m really happy for you… I’ll let you finish. But Blake Griffin had one of the best dunks of all time! One of the best dunks of all time!
Kanye West's infamous words are absolutely applicable here.
LeBron James thought he had pulled off the Dunk of the Year when he jumped over poor John Lucas to complete an alley-oop from Dwyane Wade, but he must have forgotten Blake Griffin is still in the league.
And Blake Griffin does things like this.
Sure, LBJ went over Lucas, but that's a point guard who appears to be somewhere in the 4-foot-7 to 4-foot-9 range.
Griffin went over, through and even kind of around a 6-foot-10, 270-pound Kendrick Perkins.
There are a lot of people in the NBA who could have completed James' dunk, but only Griffin could have done what he did last night.
So, he pretty much has the year's best dunk locked up.
But, is it the best of all time? Is that even possible?
I loved Griffin's dunk, and it's certainly up there in the rankings, but I just can't justify it as the best ever.
Guys like Vince Carter and Julius Erving simply won't let me.
Carter jumped over a seven-footer. That's like two John Lucases.
As for Erving, the degree of difficulty on his Rock-the-Baby dunk in a game is off the charts.
You could probably throw in hundreds of Shawn Kemp in-game dunks, as well.
Call me crazy, but the all-time best dunk is a prestigious title, and I'm not ready to give it to Griffin quite yet.
But at this pace, he'll get it.
Now we just need to get him to work on his dunk contests. He should just bring Kendrick Perkins out to play defense instead of a Kia.
