Super Bowl Commercials 2012: Ads Destined to Be Massive Hits

Richard LangfordJun 2, 2018

Jerry Seinfeld will be back on TV, and this time it will actually be funny. Sure, it is just a commercial, but that is far better than the travesty he called The Marriage Ref

Seinfeld is starring in an ad for the new Acura NSX as the car manufacture ramps up the advertising budget and goes all in for the Super Bowl.

They certainly won't be the only ones. The Super Bowl breaks the advertising budget for many companies. The results are always mixed, but that ads that work leave a lasting impression.

Here are three that are going to work.

Acura's Seinfeld Ad

This ad is great. It has Seinfeld at his charming and self-centered best. It even has an appearance from the Soup Nazi.

And any add that has Seinfeld grumbling about Jay Leno in a diner with an alien is probably going to be a success.

The car isn't too shabby either. They don't show the price, but I am fairly confident I won't be able to afford one. At least we get a great commercial out of it.

Honda's Ferris Bueller Ad

Ferris Bueller is a classic. It has stood the test of time despite featuring some amazingly absurd '80s fashion.

Any rekindling of this feel-good movie is going to spark positive emotion in viewers. Especially those that were alive when the movie came out, and those are no doubt the ones Honda is targeting with this boxing vehicle.

While it is a little disturbing to see Matthew Broderick looking far older and a little less energetic, all of that is forgotten as he ducks behind his panda bear to escape the sight line of his boss.

Coca-Cola's Polar Bears

The top-rate animation of these commercials pull them off. The quality of the animation in this ad could pass for a Pixar movie.

The premise is simple, but there is something indescribably joyful about watching frightening animals made to look cute crashing through their universe in time with music.

I feel cheesy for liking this commercial, but I can't help it at the same time.
