Michigan Football Recruiting: Best Remaining Recruits for the Wolverines
Losing offensive tackle Joshua Garnett to the University of Stanford hurt, but the Michigan Wolverines can still salvage this recruiting class.
Okay—salvage might be the wrong word. The Wolverines already have a terrific class, and terrific o-line recruits, but it can still get better.
Here's a look at the best remaining targets as we approach National Signing Day.
Armani Reeves, CB
Reeves, a talented 4-star corner, has narrowed his decision down to rivals Michigan and Ohio State.
Wherever he goes, he's going to be hated by his second choice.
Reeves had a good visit to Ann Arbor, but teammate Camren Williams already committed to the Buckeyes. It was thought that a decision was going to be made by now, but nothing has come from Reeves yet.
This is being written as of Sunday night, and it's quite possible he will make his decision later tonight.
Prediction: Ohio State
UPDATE: According to the Columbus Dispatch, Reeves has committed to OSU.
Alex Kozan, OL
Rivals lists Kozan as the 12th-best offensive guard in the country and the fifth-best player in the state of Colorado. Getting him would certainly help the loss of Garnett.
His final three includes Auburn, Iowa and Michigan, and for a while it looked like the Hawkeyes were the clear leader.
Not so fast.
Brady Hoke will get the final word as he had an in-home visit with Kozan on Sunday night. I think the big man goes with who's most fresh in his mind, as ridiculous as that sounds.
Prediction: Michigan
UPDATE: According to Sam Webb, Kozan has committed to Iowa.
Jordan Diamond, OT
Rivals has Diamond, a 4-star recruit, as the 28th-best offensive tackle. He would be a huge "get." Scout has him as a 5-star, so the talent is definitely there.
He still has four schools on his list in Arkansas, Auburn, Michigan and Wisconsin after recently eliminating Ohio State, and he hasn't really given many hints as to who's the leader. While Michigan and Arkansas are thought to be ahead, according to Arkansas commit Jeremy Ward via thewolverine.com, he visited Wisconsin this weekend.
He won't announce until Friday, two days after National Signing Day. Weirdo.
Prediction: Arkansas
