Royal Rumble 2012: 5 Wrestlers Who Need to Get an Angle out of the Royal Rumble
For the first time ever, every single WWE wrestler is eligible to compete in the Royal Rumble.
However, this Rumble has gone from feeling as if it is "fair game" to basically only two superstars who are real contenders to win it.
Randy Orton and Chris Jericho are heavily favored to win the event. That leaves 28 other superstars left to discuss.
Here are five superstars who should compete in the Rumble and need to gain an angle from what happens in the event.
Sheamus
1 of 5Sheamus had some serious momentum, but has recently lost that with his insignificant feud with Jinder Mahal. Now he has crossed paths with Wade Barrett, who is having a very similar career to him. The only problem with this is Wade Barrett has unfinished business with Randy Orton.
New Direction:
If Randy Orton wins the Royal Rumble his focus would turn to the winner of the World Heavyweight Championship match. This will leave Wade Barrett with nothing.
A feud between Sheamus and Wade Barrett has already gotten underway. Either won of them could go to eliminate the other, and they could get tied up and both get eliminated. This will lead to a battle outside the ring, and a feud between the two leading into the future.
Drew McIntyre
2 of 5I personally am not a huge fan of Drew McIntyre so I don't really care so much about a push for him.
That being said, McIntyre's job with the WWE has been on the hot seat recently as he has had awful luck as of late. Many have felt he will be getting a push soon, but that has yet to happen. He needs an angle that will help get him the push he has needed.
New Direction:
Drew McIntyre could find his niche in the tag team division. The once stacked tag team division has become meaningless. He could join forces with someone like Alex Riley in the Rumble match and beyond, and also compete for the Tag Team Championships in the future.
Kofi Kingston
3 of 5Kofi Kingston has been with the WWE since 2006 and has won seven total championships in the process. Kingston has a boatload of talent and is a big fan favorite, however he has struggled to find a direction recently.
It looked as if he was going to help revive the tag team division until his tag team partner Evan Bourne got suspended twice.
Now going into the Royal Rumble, Kingston is completely lost and needs something.
New direction:
Depending on the true severity of Zack Ryder's injury, Kingston could start a feud with Jack Swagger for the United States Championship. Kingston could eliminate Swagger then, after being eliminated, Swagger could eliminate Kingston. This will lead to a brawl between the two all the back up the ramp and backstage.
The Miz
4 of 5The Miz has proven the quote "what a difference a year makes" true. Last year, Miz was the WWE Champion and headlined WrestleMania. Then he was in the middle of one of the most interesting storylines this year when he was one half of "Awesome Truth."
The Miz is currently consistently on the losing end of his feud with R-Truth. While this feud is interesting, it will quickly get old if they continue to feud with each other.
New Direction:
The Miz could go one of two ways. The first being a little less likely because it would involve him winning the Royal Rumble as the first entrant. He could win the Royal Rumble and challenge one of the champions at WrestleMania. The feuds on the mic between Miz and CM Punk would be very intriguing.
The other direction could be using Miz to help build the tag team division. He could start an alliance with Christian or Alberto Del Rio, if either of them come back from injury and compete in the Rumble. Their alliance could begin in the Royal Rumble match as they work together and eliminate multiple superstars, only to be eliminated together by Kane later on.
Brodus Clay
5 of 5The Funkasaurus has recently returned and has dominated the lower end of the WWE roster each week. It is time for him to get an angle and start a feud.
Brodus Clay is becoming a big fan favorite because of his throwback gimmick. There are several directions in which he could go.
New Direction:
Clay will probably do some damage in the Royal Rumble and eliminate several superstars before he is eliminated himself. He could eliminate Jack Swagger, which would make Swagger angry and thus starts a feud between the two for the United States Championship.
Depending on the return of Zack Ryder, Clay and Swagger could feud for a while, and they could each be on the winning side of several matches so that Swagger is taken seriously as the U.S Champion and Clay doesn't lose his momentum.
