Pro Bowl 2012: LeSean McCoy and Dark-Horse Candidates for MVP

Justin WeltonJan 29, 2012

Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees and Larry Fitzgerald are all legitimate contenders to win the 2012 Pro Bowl MVP. The great thing about the Pro Bowl is that anybody can win the MVP; DeAngelo Hall won the award last season.

Here are a few dark-horse candidates that could take home the crown.

LeSean McCoy

Philadelphia Eagles’ running back LeSean McCoy is destined to have a great day on Sunday because of his ability to catch balls out of the backfield.

McCoy has caught 126 passes in the past two seasons to go along with his 1,309 yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground this year.

In his third year in the league, McCoy has turned into one of the best running backs in the league. He has proved to be reliable, capable and explosive every time he touches the ball.

Expect "Shady" to shine bright on Sunday.

Jimmy Graham

Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints would be a great candidate to win Pro Bowl MVP. How about his tight end that was arguably the best in the NFL?

Jimmy Graham caught 99 passes for 1,310 yards and 11 touchdowns this season.

Safeties, linebackers and anybody else can’t cover this man. His 6’6” 260 pound frame allows him to dominate in only his second year in the league.

There is no question that Brees and Graham will be on the same page; expect Brees to find Graham for at least one touchdown.

A.J. Green

A.J. Green will have the luxury of having fellow teammate Andy Dalton as his gunslinger. Dalton has a solid rapport with the rookie wide receiver which could cause more balls to be thrown in his direction.

The first-year professional from Georgia caught 65 passes for 1,057 yard and seven touchdowns this season.

He can go up and get any ball in the air, can take catch to the house or he can go across the middle; Green can do it all.

Green is one of the most exciting players in the NFL and he will receive plenty of looks from Dalton.

Prediction: NFC 45, AFC 42, McCoy wins MVP honors
