NBA Rumors: Boston Celtics and 3 Teams Who Need Chris Kaman to Contend
There are teams that need Chris Kaman.
At this point, the New Orleans Hornets are actively trying to trade Kaman.
Kaman was understanding about the situation, and he is probably anxious to get on a contender. There are a few teams that could use Kaman, but there are some teams that need him.
The 29-year-old center could be a key piece on a title contender. He just needs a chance. Given a few teams need a center, he could play a big-time role for a team making a run in the playoffs.
Here are three teams that need Kaman if they want to make a serious run:
The Pacers are a good young team. They match up well with the No. 1 team in the Eastern Conference, the Chicago Bulls, and are athletic enough to play with anyone else in the East.
However, the Pacers could use some depth up front. Roy Hibbert is playing very well, but he could use some help. Kaman could fit in nicely, and the Pacers are reportedly interested in him.
If they want to make a serious run at the NBA title, the Pacers need to have a little more depth. If they could make a move for Kaman, they would be in much better shape.
The Spurs are a good team. They are experienced, and they know how to win.
Unfortunately, they don't quite have the talent to keep up. They don't have the depth in the frontcourt to keep up with teams in the Western Conference, and they need a little more low-post scoring.
If they brought in Kaman, they could add a consistent low-post scorer. He would take pressure Tim Duncan and DeJuan Blair in the frontcourt. As for the backcourt, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili (when he returns) could use another player to rely on.
The Spurs are hoping to make one last title run in the Duncan era, and they could really use Kaman.
It's no secret that the Celtics are aging. The Big 3 are hoping to make one final run, and they could use some help. Kaman would be a pretty good fit.
For a team that's starting Jermaine O'Neal at center, they could use all the help they can get. They won't be able to make a move for Kaman without a buyout. It's not likely, but the C's could definitely use it.
O'Neal hasn't played horribly, but Kaman is definitely an upgrade. If the C's are serious about contending, they need a serious upgrade from O'Neal at center.
