Senior Bowl 2012: 3 College Stars Who Will Hurt NFL Draft Stock by Suiting Up

Josh MartinJun 7, 2018

The Senior Bowl lends itself to sticky situations for college football's soon-to-be-ex-pats. While everyone in attendance are looking to boost their stocks in front of scouts ahead of the NFL Draft, a handful of participants are bound to trip and fall.

Down draft boards, or off of them entirely, that is.

The case is no different this year, especially for these three collegiate standouts, all of whom performed dreadfully during the all-important practices.

Kellen Moore

Kellen Moore couldn't have done much more to depress his own draft stock at the Senior Bowl practices. Aside from checking in under six foot, the Boise State quarterback struggled to complete much of anything downfield, demonstrated poor arm strength and an overly lengthy throwing motion all the while.

With a showing like that, and unless he improves significantly during the actual game or at the combine, Moore's NCAA-record 50 wins won't save him from going un-drafted.

Russell Wilson

Like Moore, Russell Wilson has seen his draft stock plummet at the Senior Bowl amidst concerns about his size and ability to play in the pocket. Wilson was measured at just 5'10-1/2" and had issues with his accuracy (or lack thereof) throughout the week.

But while Wilson, who led Wisconsin to the Rose Bowl, is unlikely to get drafted, he still figures to find his way onto an NFL roster, thanks in large part to his solid mechanics and pro-quality arm strength.

Mike Brewster

Slow. Shaky. Flat-footed.

These aren't exactly the most favorable descriptors for prospective NFL offensive linemen, though they're all too applicable to former Ohio State center Mike Brewster.

An All-Big Ten performer and Rimington Trophy candidate, Brewster has failed to live up to his lofty collegiate pedigree down in Mobile. The 6'4", 325-pounder has ended up on his heels far too often in passing situations and has had considerable difficult executing his blocks on runs.

In other words, Brewster is bound to go un-drafted if he doesn't get his act together in time for the actual game on Saturday.
