Dungeonites' TNA Report: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of TNA Impact for 1/26

John ReidJun 3, 2018

Welcome back once again, fellow Dungeonites, to our weekly TNA report.

Your faithful correspondent has been in the dungeon—literally—these past few weeks, and is finally able to come out and see daylight again.

For those who may not remember (all two of you—and if this is your first time here, welcome), I am an unashamed wrestling fan who is no particular favorite of a promotion, so expect an unbiased view.

Second, all comments and suggestions are welcomed, encouraged and even desired.

Third, what we're going to do is break down the best and worst of each TNA Impact Wrestling episode, so let's get into it!

As always, this is spoiler free.

THE GOOD

Four Corners Offense—The feud between TNA Champion Bobby Roode, Bully Ray, James Storm and Jeff Hardy continued to escalate on the program.  After the show opened up with a parking lot battle with Hardy and Ray, the former Beer Money partners joined the fracas.

Eventually, Sting set up a tag-team match with Storm suggesting they have a tables match instead.  This was a good idea, as it appears they are having a four corners match for the title at Against All Odds.

The result was Storm getting the win, but no one was hurt by taking the pin.

I love the way this feud is going as it now throws a deserving Bully Ray into the title mix. This will be a test for Roode, and I assume this is also a great way to fill time until Storm eventually gets his hands on Roode and regains the title.

Tag Team Back Again!—TNA's tag division's struggles have been well documented, but give TNA credit for attempting to bring it back to life again.

Matt Morgan and Crimson might be getting the individual wins over Samoa Joe and Magnus, but it would truly benefit TNA to have the newly formed combo to get the straps.  Joe/Magnus have shown better chemistry than the champs, and it seems they have ended up getting the upper hand the past few weeks.  We will have to see where this goes.

Shelley wins the shot at Aries at AAO—What would've happened if Zema Ion won?  Would he get the shot? Well, that being written, Shelley had a great return match and showed why both he and Austin Aries would be the class of the division going forward.

I still think they need to find a way to incorporate more talent, but props to TNA for letting these guys go.

THE BAD

Knockout's No. 1 Contender Match—I've been at funerals that were livelier than the Impact Zone for this match. Tara won a highly uninspired contest, and has earned the right to lose to Gail Kim at AAO next month. One question: What does Velvet Sky have to do to get another title shot?

Son of a Bischoff—Let's just get to the part where Hogan is Garrett's trainer and get it over with.  They rushed him back way too soon and the payoff will not be something that fans want to see.

Frenemies - Can someone explain to me the point of Kaz turning on AJ? I just want either Kaz or Daniels to explain what is going on so we can have their blow-off match at AAO be a bit more interesting.  I just can't believe someone of AJ Styles' caliber isn't in the title hunt.

THE UGLY

ODB-Young—OK, so Winter and Angelina Love hit him in the cup, and he starts talking about yeast infections? Ugh! Get this crap off of my TV, and NOW!

Dungeonites' Reaction

Looks like TNA has continued a solid run of good shows since the new year has come about. Although AAO might be considered a filler PPV, the storylines leading up to it will be big heading into Lockdown.

Next week, TNA has a special Global Impact, so that will be fun to watch.
