Los Angeles Lakers Rumors: Pissed off Pau Gasol Must Stop Whining

Matt ShetlerJun 1, 2018

Lakers forward Pau Gasol has made it known that he's not happy with the amount of post touches he's been receiving in Mike Brown's offense.

What he needs to do is to shut up and stop whining.

While he did have one of his better games of the season against the Los Angeles Clippers and converted on 5-7 attempts around the basket—a season high—it wasn't the amount of touches Gasol received that led to his success.

Gasol gets his touches on a nightly basis, it's what he does with his touches that determines his success.

Sure, catching the ball on the block is a big priority for both Lakers big men, but if Gasol isn't aggressive when he catches the basketball, then it doesn't matter how much he touches the ball.

All too often Gasol catches the ball and is passive and indecisive.

If anyone should be whining and complaining, it's the rest of the team about Gasol's lack of aggressiveness.

The Lakers can't win consistently with that Gasol.

But they can with the Gasol from Wednesday night against the Clippers.

It was the perfect example of how good the Lakers offense can be if Gasol is aggressive. As the team's second option, they need him to be on on a nightly basis.

Even Kobe Bryant said to the Los Angeles Times that when Gasol is more aggressive, the ball will find him more.

When Gasol is aggressive, his number doesn't always have to be called to have success. The ball will find him and he will make plays.

Wednesday night was a thing of beauty from him. He was anything but soft.

When he's not aggressive, though, it's an entirely different story and it has an effect on the entire Lakers team.

So what Gasol needs to do is quit whining about not getting the ball and instead maintain his aggressive play. If he does, he won't have to worry about the amount of touches he's getting because he will get plenty.
