Dwight Howard Needs to Start Talking About the Magic, Not the Rest of the NBA

When talking to the Boston Herald before Thursday's loss to the Celtics, Dwight Howard said he would consider signing with the Boston Celtics during this upcoming offseason.

Originally, Howard declined to comment on any trade talk. Now the All-Star center can't stop talking about it. His original trade demands had a list of three teams, the Lakers, Mavericks and Nets. Howard has now thrown in the Clippers as a possibility, along with the Celtics.

Howard seems to be willing to go to any team who is winning at the moment. Considering the Magic were held to a franchise record low 56 points by the Celtics, it's no surprise that Howard shows interest.

Talking about every other team but his own must drive his teammates crazy. They know this is their last year with Howard and they are trying to make the most of it. Howard seems to be solely focused on next year.

The Magic are a good team. They are in the hunt for the top seed in the East. Winning takes patience in any sport. Jumping to a big market team with other star players does not guarantee success. Right now Howard is the face of the franchise and has a good supporting cast around him that knows its role. His teammates also know that the team revolves around Howard.

Players in today's sports world do not have pride in playing with one team anymore. Howard falls into a group of players who believes that winning a championship comes within the name of the city. The reality is that winning comes from team chemistry and dedication.

Howard needs to look at what he has in Orlando. It is a good situation with a supportive fan base. He is a leader of the team which is in the thick of a championship hunt year after year.

Even if Howard has made up his mind that he is leaving, he should not talk about it publicly now. He owes it to the fans and his teammates to think about what he can do this year to bring a championship to Orlando. That is something we need to hear.
