Can Florida State Snag Josh Harvey-Clemons Over Florida and Georgia?
In the college football recruiting process, things can tend to get a little crazy. Teams come and go, players de-commit—sometimes twice—and then there are teams that come completely out of nowhere to become a possible favorite for a top prospect.
That's the case with the Florida State Seminoles when it comes to one of this years top linebackers, Josh Harvey-Clemons. He's an athletic linebacker, with great size at 6'4", 207 pounds, and is very disciplined when it comes to playing his assignments. He would be a great addition for any school that's pursuing him.
Though nearly every top team is after him, but many considered Florida and Georgia to be the front-runners for his services. You can now put the Seminoles in the running for him, as he just got back from his official visit. Here are a few words Harvey-Clemons' grandfather had to say about the trip.
"It went surprisingly well at Florida State. They had a lot of questions to answer. I was curious to why they didn’t pursue Josh as hard as all the rest of the schools earlier. They explained that it wasn’t from a lack of interest but that they didn’t want to get the reputation of acting like a used car salesman like a couple of the other schools. Coach Fisher wanted to get Josh down there, show him what they’ve got, and let that speak itself. We were impressed.
"
It has quickly gone from Georgia and Florida leading the race, to some saying that Florida State is now the leading the pack after the visit. The truth is, there is likely no leader in this race at this point, but Florida State obliviously has made a huge impact to include themselves.
The Seminoles already have a loaded defense, which includes two of the top defensive ends in Noah Spence and Chris Casher. They also have a solid defensive tackle in Justin Shanks, and on defense return several key players from last year. This commitment may really put Florida State over the top and have them one step closer to accomplishing their goals.
Harvey-Clemons will make his decision sometime on national signing day, and don't be surprised if he ends up picking Florida State. That's something I couldn't have said a few days ago.
