College Football Recruiting: Teams That Can Make Big Jump in Rankings on NSD

Drew LaingJun 5, 2018

National Signing Day is only a few days away, and several college football programs are poised to make a lot of noise this coming Wednesday.

Several top-ranked uncommitted recruits will be making announcements on NSD, so the recruiting rankings could be seeing quite a change once NSD concludes.

Here are the schools that could make the biggest impact on the biggest recruiting day of the year.

*Rankings based off Rivals.com

Arkansas

1 of 4

The Arkansas Razorbacks are ranked No. 31 in the nation, but NSD could propel them up the rankings with one big signing.

The Bobby Petrino-led team is focusing on the announcement of Dorial Green-Beckham, the nation's top recruit. DGB's decision will come down to Missouri and Arkansas, but the Razorbacks are believed to be his leader at this point.

If it can sign the nation's No. 1 recruit, Arkansas should see a big jump in rankings and into the top 25 as it closes on National Signing Day.

Auburn

2 of 4

After winning the 2011 BCS National Championship, the Auburn Tigers figured to have a highly-ranked 2012 recruiting class.

Although the Tigers sit outside the top 10 right now, their fortunes could change significantly on National Signing Day. Gene Chizik and the rest of the coaching staff will have their attention focused on a number of high caliber recruits like Eddie Goldman, Ricardo Louis, Ronald Darby, Kwon Alexander and Avery Young.

If the Tigers can get the commitments of two or three of these recruits, then Auburn should make a move into the top 10.

Florida State

3 of 4

Florida State is sitting pretty with the No. 6 ranked class heading into National Signing Day. Perhaps the most encouraging thing for the Seminoles is they are ranked in the top 10 with only 16 verbal commits, which leaves them plenty of room to expand on a very talented recruiting class.

Seminoles coaches and fans will be watching for the announcements of several top prospects including Josh Harvey-Clemons, Nelson Agholor, Dante Fowler, Eddie Goldman and Tracy Howard, all of which are 5-stars recruits.

If all goes well for the Seminoles, they could be one of the few teams who can challenge Alabama for that coveted No. 1 recruiting class.

Florida

4 of 4

The Florida Gators have arguably the most to gain on National Signing Day. With the No. 4 ranked class, the Gators are already in a good position to finish with a top recruiting class, but several uncommitted top prospects will be announcing on NSD that could affect the Gators' standing in the class rankings.

Recruits Josh Harvey-Clemons, Nelson Agholor, Dante Fowler, Tracy Howard and Darius Hamilton will all be announcing on National Signing Day. Hamilton will actually be announcing on Jan. 31.

Regardless, NSD figures to be a busy day for the Gators, who have put themselves in a favorable position with several top recruits.

Time will tell if that favorable position will pay off for Will Muschamp and the rest of the coaching staff.
