Super Bowl Prop Bets: Top 5 Prop Bets and Odds for Super Bowl XLVI

Zach KruseJan 26, 2012

Without getting too far into specifics, the Super Bowl is a gambler's once-a-year dream. Vegas is well aware of the overwhelming interest, and they take advantage by offering a bevy of options both dealing with the football side and "prop" angle.

That dip into the prop side gives us some interesting things to watch on Super Bowl Sunday. In Super Bowl XLVI, the following are among some of the top prop bets to look for next Sunday when the New England Patriots take on the New York Giants in Indianapolis.

What Color Will the Gatorade Be That Is Dumped on Winning Head Coach?

Choices: Orange (9/4); Yellow (2/1); Green (6/1); Red (11/2); Blue (10/1); Clear/Water (2/1)

This has become one of the top prop bets since the Gatorade bath became tradition for the winning team. Last season, it was orange Gatorade that doused Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy.

What Will Kelly Clarkson Wear to Sing the National Anthem?

Choices: Super Bowl XLVI shirt or official NFL shirt (2/1); Patriots jersey/shirt (12/1); Giants jersey/shirt (15/1); Colts jersey/shirt (12/1); Anything else (1/3)

Clarkson is from the Dallas/Fort Worth area, so there shouldn't be a team bias here. A Colts jersey or shirt would be an interesting twist, but that seems unlikely too. Christina Aguilera wore a black outfit last season.

How Long Will It Take for Kelly Clarkson to Sing the National Anthem?

Choices: Over one minute, 34 seconds (5/6); Under one minute, 34 seconds (5/6)

Get out your stopwatches. Twitter is always abuzz with unofficial times from Super Bowl National Anthems, so you could go there to find a guess, too. Last year, it took Christina Aguilera one minute and 53 seconds.

If Tom Brady's Son Is Shown on TV During the Game, Will He Be Wearing a Tom Brady Jersey?

Choices: Yes (1/2); No (3/2)

It's a guarantee that the broadcast will eventually show Benjamin Brady, Tom Brady's one-year-old son. Will he be wearing a tiny No. 12 jersey? Or spiffed up like his dad in a postgame press conference? If little Ben only knew how much money will probably be riding on his Super Bowl attire...

Who Will the Super Bowl MVP of the Game Thank First?

Choices: Teammates (2/1), Coach (12/1), Family (7/1), God (7/2), Owner (7/2); Does not thank anyone (11/4)

I guess it depends on who wins the MVP. "Teammates" are always the easy choice, but I'm sure "God" will get plenty of play. After last year's game, Aaron Rodgers thanked his teammates (specifically, his defense).
