Arizona State Football Recruiting: 5 Positions the Sun Devils Can Get Away with

Head coach Todd Graham has a lot of work to do in terms of recruiting coming into his first season with the Arizona State Sun Devils, but he will luckily have some left over pieces so that he won't have to heavily recruit in some areas.

The team will be losing some big pieces this offseason, but it has a pretty good depth at many important positions, so it should be set in quite a few areas.

The following positions should be set for the Sun Devils going into the 2012 season.

Quarterback

The Arizona State Sun Devils are losing their star junior quarterback Brock Osweiler to the NFL Draft, but they still have quite a few options sitting on the bench.

Rising sophomores Danny Lewis and Taylor Kelly (pictured) could be ready to take a shot. It will remain to be seen how coach Graham will feel about either player, but right now Kelly stands the best chance between the two.

Two other guys who could enter the picture are Michael Eubank or Mike Bercovici. Both are ready to take over for this team, but as previously mentioned, coach Graham will have to figure out which quarterback will be best for his team.

To say the least, he has plenty of options.

Running Back

Luckily for the Sun Devils, they will have running back Cameron Marshall returning this season.

The star back was often injured this past season, but he still had a good year running for over 1,000 yards and having 18 touchdowns on the ground.

The team will also have Deantre Lewis back, who will be ready to take over once Marshall graduates. The team has about three other players who will be sophomores next season, so it has plenty of depth for the next few years.

Coach Graham may want to bring in his own guy soon, but for now Marshall and Lewis should be able to get things done.

Wide Receiver

While the Arizona State Sun Devils will be losing top wide receivers like Gerell Robinson, Aaron Pflugrad, Mike Willie and T.J. Simpson, they will have Jamal Miles, Kyle Middlebrooks, Kevin Ozier and Jarrid Bryant ready to go next season.

It will remain to be seen if any of them will be able to provide the output that both Robinson and Pflugrad were able to produce for this team in 2011, but there is no doubt that Graham has plenty of options for his quarterback next season.

Bryant, who is listed at 6'5" could really come up big next season if he plays well. The Sun Devils will need a big receiver to replace Robinson, and he just may be that guy.

Defensive Line

The Sun Devils will be losing key pieces to the defensive line with players like Bo Moos and Jamaar Jarrett graduating, but besides that they have 10 other guys returning who will be ready to handle the opposition's pass and run games next season.

Five of those guys were freshmen this past year, so this line is going to be relatively young.

Graham won't be able to benefit from bringing in too many freshmen, as the roster has some pretty good depth for years to come.

The team is going to need to have someone come up as big as Moos did this past season. It will remain to be seen if defensive end Junior Onyeali will be able to be that guy, or if he will even be with the team.

The star DE has been indefinitely suspended by coach Graham because of disciplinary issues.

Offensive Line

With offensive lineman Garth Gerhart (pictured) graduating, this Arizona State Sun Devils team is going to need to find a new leader for its offensive line.

The line has at least nine guys coming back next season, three of which are coming off of their freshman year.

The line is going to have to be strong, and coach Graham is going to need to instill some discipline into a line that was known for getting penalized time after time last season.

The loss of Gerhart is definitely going to hurt this team, but the open door gives a chance for someone else to step in. Hopefully that person will be able to help keep this line much more disciplined.
