TNA Impact Wrestling Preview: Tables, No. 1 Contenders, the X-Division and More

Kyle SchadlerJun 7, 2018

Tonight is another new episode of Impact Wrestling and what a show TNA has lined up for the fans.

The company has confirmed five matches as well as an in-ring segment.

It seems like TNA is looking to end the month of January with a bang.

So let’s see what TNA Wrestling has in store for the fans!

Sting to Decide the No. 1 Contender for Bobby Roode’s World Championship

Last week Sting put James Storm and Jeff Hardy in a match with the winner facing Bobby Roode at Against All Odds.

With interference by Bully Ray as well as Roode, the match ended in a no-contest and the champion was left without a challenger.

What will Sting do about this situation? Will he give James Storm or Jeff Hardy the No. 1 contender spot? How about the possibility of a triple-threat match?

Angelina Love and Winter vs. ODB and Eric Young

What a strange feud this has been.

Two weeks ago TNA booked Winter into a match with ODB. ODB won the encounter and both Angelina Love and Eric Young got involved post-match.

Last week, Angelina challenged Young to a match which he accepted. While EY screwed around with Angelina, she became frustrated and kicked him between the goal posts causing the disqualification.

Post-match, Angelina and Winter beat on Young until ODB made the save.

Tonight these four go at it in tag team action.

Who will come out on top of this odd match?

Matt Morgan vs. Samoa Joe

For being as big and powerful as they are, Matt Morgan and Crimson could be in trouble in terms of their tag team title reign.

After the team of Samoa Joe and Magnus won the wild card tournament, they became a unit and really began working great together.

Unfortunately they weren’t able to get the job done at Genesis but they certainly sent a message to the champions.

Joe and Magnus are here to stay and they’re targeting Morgan and Crimson.

After Genesis, Joe and Magnus attacked the champions after they squashed Robbie E and Robbie T. They left the champions down and out and posed with the titles.

They may have failed at the January pay-per-view, but they were staying in the hunt.

Last week Crimson pulled a victory out of nowhere against Magnus and tonight the Blueprint must contend with the Samoan Submission Machine.

Can Matt Morgan take down Samoa Joe or can Joe gain back the momentum lost by Magnus?

Alex Shelley vs. Zema Ion: If Shelley Wins, He Gets a Shot at the X-Division Title

X-Division champion Austin Aries has taken out everyone in the X-Division since winning the title in September. Aries has proved to be the best of the division and possibly in TNA.

Last week Aries said that he may retire as champion since he had no competition.

The music of the Motor City Machine Guns then hit and Alex Shelley made his return to TNA.

He was tired of Aries being the face of the X-Division and wanted a shot at the title. Aries said that he could have one if he defeated someone to earn it.

Shelley told Aries to pick the opponent and it seems like the champion has chosen Zema Ion.

Can Alex Shelley defeat Zema Ion and gain a shot at the X-Division Championship? If Ion manages to win, will he get the title shot?

Velvet Sky vs. Tara vs. Mickie James

Gail Kim has been raising hell since her return to TNA in November. She got a shot at the Knockout’s Championship right away and took the title away from Velvet Sky in November.

Since then, Mickie James has been chasing the title and has failed every time.

Tonight she has the opportunity to get another shot but she has competition.

The show will feature a No. 1 contender’s match for the title and it will see three former Knockout’s champions.

Both Mickie and Tara have had the title multiple times while Velvet has had a short reign after being robbed by Gail.

Either woman would make great competition for the champion.

Who will pick up the win and get a shot at the Knockout’s Championship at Against All Odds?

James Storm and Jeff Hardy vs. Bobby Roode and Bully Ray: Tag Team Tables Match

Bobby Roode has managed to weasel his way out of his title defenses when he retained the title by disqualification at Genesis and had Bully Ray attack the referee the following Thursday to cause a no-contest.

In both of those matches, Jeff Hardy was screwed out of winning the title and he wants another shot.

Two weeks ago James Storm defeated Kurt Angle to become the No. 1 contender but because the Roode/Hardy match ended in a no-contest his status as challenger became null and void.

Last week, the No. 1 contender’s match between Storm and Hardy ended in a no-contest when Bully Ray and Roode interfered.

Tonight the Icon Sting is punishing Roode once again as he must team with Bully Ray to take on Storm and Hardy in a tables match.

Who will gain victory in this extreme match?

TNA Impact Wrestling is once again looking like a great show.

Will it be? Tune in to find out!
