WWE's 10 Best House Show Matches of 2011 That Are Available Online
WWE television entertains us every week, and 2011 was a great year for it, but what many forget about is the fact that WWE superstars are giving their all every night at house shows.
These house shows aren’t as spectacular as the television broadcasts, no titles change hands, yet there are some pretty amazing matches that are on display.
Many can be found on Youtube as you will see in a second, but many will never reach the mass audience.
I have found 10 brilliant matches while browsing Youtube and have decided to make them easily available through this slideshow.
Enjoy!
Triple H vs. Sheamus (03-19-2011)
1 of 10This street fight between The Game and the Celtic Warrior shows us that Sheamus had a lot of potential to get where he is today.
At this point, he was already the United States Champion and was involved in a feud with Daniel Bryan.
Triple H was most likely using this match as a warm up to facing The Phenom at WrestleMania XXVII.
It is extremely exciting and in good quality. It is one of the better matches on the Internet.
CM Punk vs. John Cena (03-13-2011)
2 of 10I find this match interesting mainly because I didn’t think six months later it would be the most hotly anticipated match of 2011.
A good 15-minute match provides plenty of thrills and proves these two superstars are excellent in the ring together.
The Miz comes out at the end to attack John Cena along with the New Nexus, emphasising their feud a few weeks before WrestleMania XXVII.
The Miz vs. Randy Orton
3 of 10Not this entire match is taped, but the majority of it is. It is really clear and the match itself is good; Randy Orton helping The Miz improve his skills in the ring.
I couldn’t find a specific date for this house show, but New Nexus had been formed and they didn’t last long, so somewhere in between those dates...
CM Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio (09-03-11)
4 of 10In this match, WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio gets a chance to do what he never could on television, and that is impress me with his ability to work a match.
Working with Punk will help anyone out, but the two men put on a clinic.
They’re so busy wrestling well that Del Rio doesn’t even take off his T-shirt. I won’t spoil it for you, but Del Rio wins.
John Cena, Kofi Kingston & Zack Ryder vs. Kevin Nash & Awesome Truth (11-11-11)
5 of 10What is Kevin Nash doing in this match? I’m not quite sure, but it was probably to get him ring ready for fighting The Game at TLC.
I included it because Nash squaring up to Cena is something you have to see. It was more entertaining than anything he ever did on television, that’s for sure.
The inclusion of Awesome Truth makes this a fun match to watch, if a little short.
John Cena and Randy Orton vs. CM Punk and the Miz
6 of 10Again, I don’t have a date for this match, but I do believe this was a main event on more than one occasion on the WrestleMania revenge tour.
With The Miz still WWE Champion and Randy and CM Punk still feuding with each other, it was the perfect heel vs. face match to get the crowd out of their seats, as is evident in this video.
Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton (11-11-11)
7 of 10Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton should feud again in the future, in my opinion.
There aren’t two other superstars on the roster who I’d rather see compete.
This street fight between the two is another shining example of the show they can put on.
Who could forget "bloodgate" on SmackDown?
Cody and Randy know how to put on a show like no other.
Sin Cara vs. Tyson Kidd (03-09-11)
8 of 10Remember Sin Cara? Here he is fighting the poor kidd (pun intended) who can’t get on television for love nor money.
Sin Cara shows a few moves he didn’t get a chance to on television, and the match is relatively botch-free.
Primo vs. Sin Cara
9 of 10This match is a lot better than the debut match of the Mexican sensation. Maybe it was the pressure of being live that restricted Sin Cara’s abilities in the ring...
Randy Orton vs. Christian
10 of 10This is another classic match repeated in a house show environment. The bloke who filmed it wasn’t really sitting in the best position, but it doesn’t take away from the quality of the match.
So after viewing some of the best matches on Youtube, do you think it is better to go to a house show or a live television broadcast? Please sound off in the comments below and thanks for reading!
